June - July
Cleaning and leveling of the soil followed by the spreading of the protective layer, white soil (calcium carbonate).
July - August
The first incisions to ‘wake up’ the trees! Followed by the first initial collection of Mastic soon thereafter.
September - October
The second and most predominant collection of Mastic. A true natural sight to see!
November - Spring
Traditional sifting, washing, and cleaning of Mastic by the farmers before delivering to the Chios Gum Mastic Growers Association.
The trees are fertilized and cared for in preparation of the next harvesting season.
